Fath Al-Khier 2 will sail to India this Friday following the arrival to the city of Sur in Oman where it docked for few days. Fath Al Khier voyage is scheduled to arrive to Mumbai within 10 to 15 days.
Earlier this week, Fath al Khier has delayed the voyage from Omani port-Sur to Mumbai due to the bad weather in the Arabian Sea.
For his part, Ahmad al Hitmi, the director of beach department at Katra lauded the efforts exerted by the crew of the historic voyage of Fath al Khier and the endurance and courage they have shown while countering the weather change which requires full compliance with the shipmaster’s orders to ensure safety onboard is maintained.”
On this occasion, Mohammad al Sadda, Public relation and Communication officer for the Fath al Khier 2 journey said: “The dhow is will equipped with the requirements to counter any accidents or climate conditions. The crew comprised highly mannered people who are  willing to follow the steps of their ancestors in dealing with hardships with endurance, patience, and bravery. For instance, the captain and his crew where so united which reflects the importance of co-operation, solidarity, and team work within a specific framework by which everyone performs the assigned duties in the best possible manner.”
Commenting on the voyage, Al saddda said:” All sailors are both enthusiastic and brave. They are ready to resume this exceptional experience which is a continuum to the first Feth Al-Khair voyage. However, it is different in some aspects related to the duration of the journey as well as the long distance to India.”
Talking about the difficulties that have faced the dhow while heading from Katara beach to Sur port in Oman, he said: “Since our departure from Katara’s beach, the weather was fine and we encountered no dangers except slight mishaps due to the head winds that we have countered. This had led us to arrive in Sur safe and earlier than the scheduled time. In Sur, we ordered more supplies to resume out journey to India.”
Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat) as a gold sponsor, and Qatar TV as an official broadcaster are sponsoring this historical journey.
It is worth mentioning that Fath Al-Khier 2 to India is gaining considerable media attention both locally and internationally, including Indian media outlets. Meanwhile, Qatar TV is the exclusive broadcaster of Feth Al-Khair and will air a weekly episode to update the public on the voyage starting from the beginning of November.
