Katara marks NSD with a range of astounding activities

As an institution and a meeting place of cultures, arts, and intellectual thought, the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara has celebrated National Sports Day (NSD) with hosting an astounding grouping of 80 events.

​On the occasion, Katara has organized an exciting lineup for National Sports Day 2016 in which cultural focus side-by-side with sports and leisure were presented.

The events and activities are organized in Katara for this year national sport day under the slogan "Be the champion" were incredibly vast in scale, as it comprised activities of all kinds for all ages for more than 12 hours.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Dr. Khaled bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Katara's General Manager said: "Katara has created such a nuanced approach to National Sports Day in a bid to establish sport as a lifestyle and culture across the State of Qatar. These endeavors and efforts are each in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 which increasingly seeks to make sports an important and integral part of the lives of Qataris and residents alike."

Cultural Village Foundation General Manager stated that Katara has increasingly become an institution and international point for culture, arts, and intellectual thought to exist side-by-side with sports, leisure, and tourism. "Today, Katara is taking precedence as a prime location for hosting cultural and sporting events and activities for a range of sport federations, ministries, and institutions during National Sports Day. This achievement is based on Katara making its facilities available for the public on this increasingly important day by ensuring that activities are organized in a manner most beneficial to the public. Those in attendance has the opportunity of practicing a range of sporting events which satisfy the needs of our guests of all age groups."

Minister of Industry and Energy, a H.E. Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada along with His Excellency, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment have also visited Katara during National Sport Day festivities. The president of Qatar University Dr. Hassan Al-Derham and president of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Sheikh Saud Abdulrahman Al-Thani, have also attended Katara's activities.

With a record number of Katara visitors who attended the National Sports Day festivities, Katara marked the day with an assortment of activities that have included both marine and aerial activities which made use of Katara Beach within an overwhelming pleasant temperatures of early February. Basketball, football and beach handball sporting events were also organized on the esplanade and the beach. The games were accompanied by health and wellness institutes which have offered health tips and medical checks to attendees.

In addition to the aforementioned athletic competitions and wellness displays, Katara's National Sports Day has additionally featured chess, biking, yoga, horse riding, film screenings and more. An equally impressive feature of the day's lineup is the number of ministries, sports federations and organizations which presented the activities.

Included among the organisers who have participated at Katara's National Sports Day celebration are Qatar Basketball Federation, Qatar Volleyball Association, Qatar Karate Federation, Qatar Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation, Qatar Chess Association, Qatar Equestrian Federation, Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Qatar General Electricity, Water Corporation (Kahramaa), Qatar University, Qatar Lawyers Association and Healthy Katara Food Market.

 

It's noteworthy that Kid's sport Village, set in Katara during sport day has grabbed a significant turnout of visitors who enjoyed the beneficial and enjoyable activities in the delightful day.

 For their parts, Visitors of the Cultural Village on the National Sport Day lauded the lauded the role of Katara for diversify the sports and events of National Sports Day by offering more than 80 distinct activities.
