Doha – The Cultural Village (Katara):
The Masjid of Katara plays a vital and significant role in spreading the concepts and human values ​​ in our religion, working to consolidate the values ​​of coexistence, tolerance, equality and fraternity, as this unique Islamic edifice became a prominent feature in the Cultural Village Katara, serving as a cultural and popular university and a comprehensive Islamic institution that embodies our civilization that flourished in various arts and sciences.  Through the distinctive religious program (Paradise), the Masjid of Katara presents an elite of Islamic scholars from Qatar and the Arab and Muslim world, such as Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Dr. Sheikh Ayed Al-Qarni, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Yacoub, Sheikh Nabil Al-Awadi, Mohammed Al Awadi, Sheikh Sultan Aldghilbi and preacher Wagdy Ghoneim, to give lectures characterized by the diversity of the subject and the richness of the content.
The 36 lectures programed for Ramadan will talk about important issues and aspects of individual and society life, opening up intellectual and spiritual windows, and confirming the important role of the Masjid as a place of worship, in terms of uniting people, spreading values of Islam that calls for a positive and peaceful coexistence with others within the same society, which is the objective of the Cultural Village Foundation Katara by the dissemination  of the culture of peace and coexistence between civilizations.
An integrated and education cultural center
In this context, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, Katara General Manager, said: “The lectures, which are held weekly in the Masjid of Katara through the program (Paradise) is an important part of the permanent strive of the Cultural Village Katara for the returning of the  role of the Masjid as it was in time of the Prophet and his companions during the glorious history of Islam prosperous, not only a place of worship, but also an integrated cultural and educational center, offering various forms of thought and knowledge. The intention of Katara to establish such lectures comes from its commitment to education and religious awareness among various segments of society, and in response to the aspirations of the Cultural Village foundation to found the human values ​​in our civilization, as the Islamic civilization carried  humanity from the atmosphere of hatred, division and nervousness to the world of love, equality and compassion by declaring the united humanity as brothers and that all people are created from a single soul (O people! Fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul, and created from it its mate, and propagated from them many men and women) (women 1), in order to entrench the morals ​​of cooperation, mutual understanding and convergence on the good: “O people! We created you from a male and a female, and made you races and tribes, that you may know one another ” (13 the Chambers).
He also added: “We are very keen to build bridges between cultures and civilizations, as the Masjid was also a place to spread various sciences and knowledge, culture and education, tolerance and moderation that enlightened the history.
Faith and spirituality
During the holy month of Ramadan, The masjid of Katara holds  intensive courses for the memorization of the Quran under the supervision of qualified and competent teachers, as these courses realized remarkable success and is currently attracting children, and appreciated  by parents for its educational practices and outcomes, as this session aims to encourage children between the ages of 5 and 12 years to memorize and recite the holy Quran and contemplate its meaning and carry out its teachings, as well as its importance in infusing virtuous values ​​and ethics.
Katara Masjid expects during the season of Ramadan a high turnout, as worshipers attend the program of (Nafhat faith) and perform the Taraweeh prayers lead by Sheikh Mohamed Makki (former Imam of the Umayyad Masjid in Aleppo) in a wonderful atmosphere of faith and spirituality.
The Katara Masjid is a unique grand architectural masterpiece in the region, as it was designed by the Turkish architect Zainab Fadli Oglu, according to the most beautiful and best technical specifications and engineering, which highlights the combination of an amazing mix between the various Islamic arts through the ages, reflecting the richness and diversity of Arab and Islamic civilization. Exterior and interior architectural designs of the Masjid, in addition to the minaret and the dome and Mihrab (Apse), are all inspired by Masjids of many renowned cities and capitals of different Muslim countries, such as Turkey, Syria, Turkmenistan and northern Persia. The magnificent linear panel made ​​of stretched canvas and it was written (Allah fateh al-abwab) at the heart of the mihrab, is one of the famous paintings in the Great Masjid in Bursa – Turkey, as well as all the craftsmanship arts such as lines, decorations, inscriptions and mosaics have been carried out by the most skilled craftsmen and artists from around the world.
Moreover, the Katara Masjid inspired its outside shape from the Masjid of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, the most important and oldest Islamic architectural memorials, as it represents the gem of Masjids, it includes the Rock where the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him started the night journey to heaven, in addition to the artistic harmony and splendor of Islamic civilization.
